University announces new faculty appointment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The President and Governors of the University of West Terrier are pleased to announce the appointment of Valentina Abeja as assistant professor of economics at the Livingstone School of Economics and Social Science.

Before serving as budget chief and head of the Park Finance Office, Valentina Abeja worked as an analyst at The Park’s All Species Credit and Commercial Bank (ASCCB). She has also been a frequent financial contributor to Toro Talk Radio and TMD Radio and has served as a guest commentator at The Park’s annual Groundhog Day celebrations.

Although financial matters have been her life’s work, Abeja has described pollination as her “ultimate passion,” and she has strongly encouraged her compatriots to “pollinate for the good of The Park and its residents.”

Abeja’s experience in fiscal management, her passion for justice and equality, and her respect for all Park species will enrich the educational experience of our students and broaden their knowledge beyond financial matters.

University to host joint conference on the effect of technology on Animal employment outside The Park

The President and Governors of the University of West Terrier are pleased to announce that the university will host a conference on the effect of technology on Animal employment outside The Park. This conference is the first of its kind in The Park.

Members of the university’s Torgeir School of Information Technology and the Livingstone School of Economics and Social Science will meet to discuss recently-published data regarding technology and Animal employment outside The Park, focusing their attention on the effects of new technologies on the employment and compensation of Animals in the Human service industry.

The university is honoured to welcome as keynote speaker technology expert Inari Marakatti, author of the groundbreaking book, “I’ve Seen the Future and It Has a Joystick.”

The conference will take place on July 26 and 27, 2018.

University announces 2018 commencement speaker

The President and Governors of the University of West Terrier are pleased to announce that Dewi Merpatee Rhinoceros will deliver the 2018 UWT Commencement Address.

Dewi Rhinoceros has served The Park and the cause of interspecial harmony throughout her long and distinguished career. As Chief Archon in 2013, Rhinoceros was at the forefront of the establishment of June’s Enforced Domestication Awareness Month (EDAM) as well as the weekly gatherings known as “Stereotype Sundays.” Following her year-long term as Chief Archon, Rhinoceros fulfilled her dream and opened the Centre for Interspecial Harmony (CIH) and she continues to serve as Chair of the CIH Board of Directors. Never resting from her lifelong goal of fostering harmony among all species in The Park, Rhinoceros has taught classes at the University of West Terrier, Leonardo Language and Culture Institute, and the Hani Gaja School of Art, and has travelled extensively to gather information and inspiration from outside The Park.

University announces new faculty appointment

The President and Governors of the University of West Terrier are pleased to announce the appointment of Gunnar Rotte as adjunct professor in the Department of Interspecial Studies.

As a full-time journalist at The Rodent Commoner, Rotte has reported on crime, justice, and politics, and has written a number of highly-regarded editorials and opinion pieces. He has also served as a member of Toro Talk Radio host Yannis Tavros’s “Pundits’ Parlour,” and has covered the Park’s Groundhog Day ceremonies. As a part-time counsellor at the Extinction Anxiety Clinic, Rotte has displayed great understanding and compassion and has garnered high praise for his work with clients.

In addition to his pride in his own species and his passion for justice and equality, Rotte brings with him great analytical skills and a wealth of experience from both inside and outside The Park. These qualities will enrich the educational experience of UWT students and broaden their outlook.

UWT School of Medicine to host three-day forum on the effects of comedy on mental health

The President and Governors of the University of West Terrier are pleased to announce that the UWT School of Medicine will host a forum in early May to discuss the effects of comedy on the mental health of Animals.

Participants in the forum will include faculty members of the UWT School of Medicine, the Millicent Hayberry Centre for the Study of Drama and Performance, and members of the departments of psychology, interspecial studies, and Human studies. Workers from The Park’s two Extinction Anxiety Clinics, the Park Hospital for the Afflicted and Infirm, and community professionals working in the fields of trichology, grooming, and other areas of physical and mental health have also been invited to share their knowledge and expertise. In addition, the forum will hear from representatives of The Park’s citizen aid groups, including Home to Roost, Rodents at Risk, Runaway Rovers, and the Tortoise Immigrant Aid and Mentor Programme.

The forum chair will be UWT Official Comedian Woodruff Dalmatio.

The forum will take place on the campus of the University of West Terrier on May 8, 9, and 10, 2018.
